Thinking
Some time ago, a client said what I have long thought was the nicest thing a client has ever said to me.
"Tom, I wish you'd stop making me think about my business."
Creative Philosophy > First, if you talk to me, I will listen. Then, I will talk back. That’s how a dialogue works. A design dialogue helps build a relationship that goes beyond just doing the work. It helps build trust. And it’s just easier to solve a problem if the people working on it trust each other. Second, I will think outside the project. While it’s possible to design a brilliant logo, brochure, thing that makes the client happy, I think it makes more sense for the brilliant logo, brochure, thing to be relevant to the client’s total business. Design can be a strategic tool only if you think strategically.
